Manners of the Heart Free Parenting Workshops
Manners of the Heart would like to invite parents and educators to attend two workshops taking place March 13th and 14th at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center. There is no charge to attend this event.
Manners of the Heart is a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore respect in society through respect-based Heart Education. Jill Rigby Garner, founder and executive director, is an accomplished author, speaker, and parenting expert. Jill will be speaking on the topic of her best-selling book, Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World, as well as giving a look into the Manners of the Heart Pre-k through 5th grade Heart Education curriculum.
Jill founded Manners of the Heart based on the vision of living in a world where the attitude behind the action reflects respect. Jill believes that each person should be committed to creating a better community. “Jill Rigby Garner is one of today’s most eloquent and inspiring speakers in the field of education. The message she has been conveying through her Manners of the Heart program is that a serious training in manners and civility is crucial to the ethical development of children. There is no doubt in my mind that such a message deserves to become an epiphany for educators and school administrators worldwide.” – P.M. Forni, Founder of Civility Initiative at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
The first workshop to be held is for parents and educators alike. Jill will speak on the topic of her book, Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World. Using her experience with working with families, she will be providing practical advice and knowledge enabling parents and educators to regain the respect that has been lost in our society. The second workshop will be for educators and school administrators to learn more about our respect-based Heart Education curriculum. This evidence-based curriculum has been proven to substantially decrease conduct problems, hyperactivity and bullying incidents while significantly increasing prosocial behavior and academic achievement.
“Our students love the Manners of the Heart lessons. Our staff loves the results of students internalizing the character traits. As principal, I love the positive impact that Manners of the Heart has brought to our school!” Jenny Affentranger, Principal, Bethel Lower Elementary School, Shawnee OK.
